Committed to Our Members and Our Community

This website is a great resource for finding builders, subcontractors, etc. for all your building, remodeling, or home repair needs. On menu above, click on “Members” and all SHBA members are listed according to their primary business activity along with phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and websites. The Shoals Home Builders Association membership application must be approved by the Board of Directors. If you are interested in learning more about membership in the Shoals Home Builders Association, please contact the SHBA office at (256) 766-9110.

The mission of the Shoals Home Builders Association is to facilitate the American dream and enhance the building industry by promoting professionalism in all areas of the building industry. The Shoals Home Builders Association was founded in 1965 as the Home Builders Association of the Muscle Shoals Area. It is the professional organization for builders and businesses associated with the building industry in the Shoals area. The Shoals Home Builders Association is a part of the Home Builders Association of Alabama, which is a part of the National Home Builders Association. On local, state, and national levels, these Associations provide continuing education opportunities, networking opportunities, marketing events, and low cost workers comp insurance coverage to its members.

Another important role of Home Builders Associations is to fund and facilitate lobbying for legislation that promotes and protects the building industry on local, state, and national levels. SHBA is governed by an elected Board of Directors consisting of 24 members who are prominent leaders in local business and building industries. Events for the Association are planned and executed by the Associates Council, which is composed of 20 elected members chosen for their leadership and commitment to the building industry. Many members of the Shoals Home Builders Association are also active in providing leadership on the State and National Home Builders Association levels.

Brenda Griffith is employed as Executive Officer for SHBA and oversees Association operations. In addition to providing benefits for its membership, the Shoals Home Builders Association is also committed to supporting and giving back to the Shoals community. A special community project is chosen each year for this purpose. Some past projects have included CASA Playhouse Project, Safeplace Transition Home, Children’s Advocacy Center, Habitat for Humanity homes, Diebert Park Pavilion, and the Sheffield Boundless Playground for handicapped children. The Shoals Home Builders Association is also committed to promoting the building industry in the Shoals area through scholarships to students pursuing building careers.
